| The Asus ExpertBook B5 G2 brings an Intel Panther Lake upgrade with 50 TOPS NPU |
Hot on the heels of its major product unveilings last month, Asus is expanding its business laptop portfolio once again. Just weeks after introducing the ExpertBook B3 G2 and the premium ExpertBook Ultra, the Taiwanese tech giant has quietly listed its latest productivity powerhouse: the ExpertBook B5 G2.
Positioned as the natural successor to last year’s ExpertBook B5, this new model skips the incremental update and jumps straight to the cutting edge. By swapping out the previous Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processors for the brand-new Series 3 chips (codenamed Panther Lake) , Asus is signaling that it is ready to handle the next wave of AI-driven workloads.
Under the Hood: A CPU Leap Forward
For professionals who demand processing muscle without the bulk, the ExpertBook B5 G2 delivers a significant performance uplift. The headline feature is the move to Intel’s latest architecture, with configurations available all the way up to a Core Ultra 7 366H.
This isn't just about faster spreadsheets. With the new chipset boasting a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of up to 50 TOPS (Trillion Operations Per Second) , this laptop is built for the "AI PC" era. Whether you are running real-time transcription, data analysis, or on-device generative AI tools, the B5 G2 promises to handle it locally without breaking a sweat. Asus backs this up with generous memory options, supporting up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM, ensuring heavy multitasking and virtual machine work remain fluid.
Design and Display: Familiar Look, New Tricks
Available in both 14-inch and 16-inch variants, the new B5 G2 retains the understated, professional aesthetic of its predecessor. It is slightly heavier than the featherweight ExpertBook Ultra, starting at around three pounds, but still falls firmly into the "ultraportable" category for a 16-inch workhorse.
Asus has stuck with the popular 16:10 aspect ratio for its screens, offering a choice between sharp 2560 x 1600 and 1920 x 1200 resolutions. The matte IPS panels are engineered for long workdays, featuring TÜV Rheinland certification for eye care and a bright 400-nit display that fights glare. While the core specifications look familiar, Asus has added a notable new option this time around: touch functionality, bridging the gap between traditional laptop users and those who prefer a more interactive interface.
Battery life also sees a theoretical boost. Despite keeping the same battery capacity as the previous model, Asus quotes an improved endurance of up to 19 hours—a solid four-hour jump from the previous generation’s estimate, likely thanks to the power efficiency of the new Intel architecture.
Built for the Battlefield of Business
The chassis retains the robust 180-degree hinge, allowing the laptop to lie flat for easy collaboration. Durability is also a key selling point, with the laptop meeting the stringent MIL-STD-810H military-grade standard, meaning it can withstand shocks, vibrations, and extreme temperatures typical of life on the road.
Security is equally tight. Asus has loaded the B5 G2 with a suite of enterprise-grade protection features:
- A NIST SP 800-193-compliant BIOS for hardware-level resilience.
- Dual BIOS protection as a failsafe against corrupted firmware.
- A dedicated TPM 2.0 chip for data encryption.
- A fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button for password-free login.
Connectivity and Availability
In a world of dongles, the ExpertBook B5 G2 offers a welcome dose of versatility. It includes Thunderbolt 4 for high-speed data and docking, a full-size HDMI port for external monitors, and legacy USB-A for plug-and-play peripherals. Wireless connectivity is future-proofed with integrated Wi-Fi 7.
According to the official press release, the new B5 G2 also comes pre-loaded with Microsoft Copilot and integrates additional AI tools within the Asus MyExpert software suite, helping users manage their workflows more intelligently.

Pricing and Release Date
As of now, both the 14-inch (model B5405CAA) and 16-inch (model B5605CAA) variants are live on the Asus website, but the company has yet to release official pricing or availability dates.
With its combination of next-gen Intel processing, AI-ready architecture, and robust security, the ExpertBook B5 G2 looks poised to be a serious contender in the corporate laptop space for the second half of the year.
