Lenovo currently sells the IdeaPad Slim 3 in Cosmic Blue and Luna Grey finishes.

Lenovo has been on a bit of a roll lately. Over the past few months, we’ve seen the company refresh its popular IdeaPad Slim lineup with everything from Snapdragon X2-powered versions to AMD Gorgon Point and Intel Panther Lake configurations in the larger 16-inch models.

Now, it seems the company is turning its attention to its more affordable, everyday workhorse. Without much fanfare, Lenovo has officially updated the IdeaPad Slim 3 to Intel’s new Panther Lake platform, and it comes with a notable change to the display that might just make it the perfect mid-range companion for students and professionals alike.

A New Display with a Modern Twist

The most significant physical change to the new IdeaPad Slim 3i (15IPH11) is the screen. Moving away from the traditional 16:9 aspect ratio found on the older 15IRU10 model, the new laptop features a 15.3-inch panel with a taller 16:10 aspect ratio.

That extra vertical space might not sound like much on paper, but in practice, it means less scrolling through web pages, more lines of text visible in a Word document, and a generally more immersive feel when browsing social media or using creative apps. It’s a subtle but very welcome quality-of-life improvement.

Under the Hood: All About Panther Lake

Of course, the headline feature here is the jump to Intel’s latest processor architecture. The IdeaPad Slim 3i 15IPH11 effectively replaces the older Raptor Lake-U models. Depending on your region, you can configure this new laptop with either the Core Ultra 5 322 or the Core Ultra 7 355 processor.

These new chips are designed to offer a significant boost in AI capabilities (making this a Copilot+ PC), power efficiency, and integrated graphics performance compared to the previous generation.

According to internal listings, Lenovo is offering configurations with up to 24GB of RAM. However, there is a quirk to be aware of for anyone thinking about a DIY upgrade down the line. Lenovo solders 8GB of memory directly onto the motherboard, but leaves a single SODIMM slot available for upgrading. This means you can add an extra stick to go beyond the base configuration, but you cannot replace the base 8GB.

Pricing, Battery, and Connectivity Across the Globe

The availability and pricing for the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i vary quite a bit depending on where you are standing.

  • In the United Kingdom: The laptop starts at £949.99 for the Core Ultra 5 322 variant.
  • In Europe: Customers can expect to pay between €1,019 and €1,319 for the same processor, depending on the configuration (RAM/storage).
  • In North America: Lenovo is taking a slightly different approach. For the time being, the company is only offering a single, pre-configured model. You can find this on the US and Canadian Lenovo storefronts. This SKU packs the more powerful Core Ultra 7 355, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD.

In the US, that model sells for $1,199.
  • In Canada, the same configuration is listed at CAD 1,679.
  • Looking for a great deal on last-gen tech? You can still find the older Raptor Lake model (like the Core 5 120U) available for a steal on major retailers. Check the current price on Amazon here.

Battery and Wireless Options

Lenovo is offering two battery sizes for the Slim 3i: a 50 Wh unit and a larger 60 Wh battery. Both support 65W fast charging via USB-C. On the connectivity front, you can choose between Wi-Fi 6 (with Bluetooth 5.3) or the newer, faster Wi-Fi 7 (with Bluetooth 5.4), which is a nice future-proofing touch for a laptop in this price range.

The Display Caveat (For Now)

Here is the one thing to keep in mind if you are planning to buy one of these today. While Lenovo has announced that the laptop will eventually be configurable with a gorgeous 1600p (WQXGA) OLED display running at a buttery smooth 165Hz, that option isn't available just yet.

Currently, if you buy the IdeaPad Slim 3i 15IPH11, you are limited to the base 1200p (WUXGA) IPS panel. It runs at a standard 60Hz refresh rate, peaks at 400 nits of brightness (which is quite good for indoor use), but only covers 45% of the NTSC color space. For general productivity, web browsing, and video streaming, this screen will get the job done. But creative professionals working with color-accurate photos or video will likely want to wait for that OLED upgrade later in the year.

The Verdict

Lenovo’s update to the IdeaPad Slim 3i is a solid, if quiet, evolution. The move to a 16:10 display and Intel Panther Lake processors makes this a very compelling option for everyday users who want a large screen without moving up to a bulky 16-inch chassis.

If you are in the US or Canada and need a reliable daily driver with the latest AI features (hello, Copilot+), the $1,199 pre-configuration is a reasonable deal. However, European and UK buyers facing higher starting prices might want to stick with the older Raptor Lake models or wait for the first sales.
