After months of speculation, Google has finally confirmed when you'll be able to order its highly anticipated Googlebook laptops. The company's official Googlebook website now shows that pre-orders will officially open on September 21, putting an end to the guessing game that has kept tech enthusiasts on edge for weeks.
According to 9to5Google, those who signed up for email notifications were informed that pre-orders would go live at 9 AM ET. However, Google is still playing its cards close to the chest regarding which specific laptop models will be available on that date, and the company hasn't provided a general shipping timeline either. For now, all Google will say is that the first Googlebooks will be ready to "unbox" sometime this fall.

The display is rumored to be a stunning 15.3-inch 2,880 x 1,800 OLED touchscreen with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. A leaked Canadian retailer listing recently priced a Core Ultra 5 325-equipped Googlebook with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage at CA$1,900 (approximately $1,365). Higher-end configurations featuring Core Ultra 7 processors and up to 64 GB of RAM have also surfaced online. Acer's Googlebook 14 has also been spotted at European retailers. One configuration featuring a Core Ultra 5 325 processor, 16 GB of LPDDR5X memory, a 256 GB SSD, and a 14-inch 2.8K 120 Hz OLED display was listed for €1,022 (around $1,178). A retailer previously hinted at November 8 as a possible release date, though Acer has yet to make anything official.
The Panther Lake Connection
What's particularly interesting is that the Core Ultra 5 325 is emerging as a common thread among early Googlebooks. This tacitly confirms that Google is positioning these devices as premium offerings. After all, Chromebooks have historically launched with entry-level chips from Intel, AMD, and occasionally even MediaTek. With Googlebooks, the Panther Lake SKU appears to be serving as a baseline configuration for this first wave of premium laptops.
