Wiko has officially entered the Intel Panther Lake arena with its latest offering, the Hi MateBook 14 Core Edition 2026. This sleek 14.2-inch laptop brings some impressive specs to the table, positioning itself as a compelling alternative to Apple's ultraportable lineup—specifically the 13.6-inch MacBook Air.
Performance and Hardware
At the heart of this machine beats an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor, which sits comfortably in the entry-level tier of the Panther Lake family. While it may not top benchmark charts against Apple's M5 chip, it delivers dependable performance for everyday computing needs. The integrated 4-core Xe3 GPU handles light workloads, media playback, and moderate productivity tasks without breaking a sweat—perfect for students, professionals, and casual users alike.

Wiko has equipped the laptop with 24GB of dual-channel RAM and a generous 1TB SSD as the sole configuration option. This combination ensures smooth multitasking and ample storage for most users' needs.
Display That Impresses
The OLED touchscreen is undoubtedly the star of the show here. With a resolution of 2880x1920 pixels and a silky-smooth 120Hz refresh rate, visuals look crisp and animations feel fluid. The 450-nit brightness rating falls slightly short of what the 13-inch MacBook Air offers, but it remains perfectly adequate for comfortable viewing across various lighting environments.
Design and Portability
Weighing in at 1.33kg (approximately 2.93lbs) with a thickness of 14.5mm, the Hi MateBook 14 is slightly chunkier and heavier than Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air M5—which currently retails for $1,199 on Amazon. The rounded corners give it an elegant appearance that should appeal to style-conscious buyers.
Connectivity Options
The port selection covers the essentials: one full-function USB-C, a 3.5mm audio jack, one HDMI port, and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports. Unfortunately, there's no Thunderbolt 4 support, which might disappoint users who need blazing-fast data transfer speeds. For those comparing this to Apple's offering, the MacBook Air M5 delivers Thunderbolt connectivity that power users may prefer.
Battery Life and Pricing
Battery life looks promising, with a 70Wh cell that Wiko claims delivers up to 17 hours of local 1080p video playback. The Panther Lake Hi MateBook 14 carries a price tag of CNY 8,199—roughly $1,221—which positions it competitively against premium ultrabooks.
Availability Considerations
One important caveat: while Wiko maintains some presence in global markets, the company isn't known for officially releasing laptops outside of China. International buyers may face challenges getting their hands on this device through official channels.
The Verdict
The Wiko Hi MateBook 14 Core Edition 2026 presents an intriguing option for those seeking a Panther Lake-powered laptop with a gorgeous OLED display. Its combination of solid performance, generous memory, and competitive pricing makes it worth considering—provided you can actually find one where you live.
