For professionals who need a full desktop setup in the harshest environments, Durabook has just unveiled a machine that defies convention. Say hello to the Z14I-DX3, a rugged mobile workstation that literally folds three 14-inch displays into a single, portable package. It’s a beast of a machine, weighing in at a hefty 21.61 lbs (roughly 9.8 kg)—so heavy that it makes even the most powerful gaming laptops look like featherweights.
But that weight comes with a purpose. The three 14-inch panels aren't just for show; they each boast a sharp 1,920 x 1,080 resolution and an impressive 1,200 nits of peak brightness. This means you can actually see your work in direct sunlight. Durabook’s signature DynaVue screens also support capacitive touch, with modes for bare fingers, gloved hands, a stylus, and even wet conditions. When it's time to pack up, the two secondary displays fold inward over the main screen, keeping the entire setup protected and transportable.
Power and Performance for the Field
Under the hood, the Z14I-DX3 is built for reliability rather than bleeding-edge gaming. It runs on Intel’s Meteor Lake chips, ranging from the Core Ultra 5 125U up to the Core Ultra 7 165U, paired with up to 64 GB of DDR5-5600 memory. For graphics, you can stick with Intel’s integrated solution or opt for serious workstation power with an Nvidia RTX A500, RTX 3500 Ada, or RTX 5000 Ada GPU.
This machine isn't designed for a coffee shop. It’s built for live video feeds, tactical maps, telemetry, and communications in defense, emergency services, and industrial field engineering. To survive those jobs, the magnesium-alloy chassis carries MIL-STD-810H and MIL-STD-461G certifications, and it can operate in extreme temperatures ranging from a freezing -29 °C to a blistering 63 °C.

Connectivity and Battery Life
Connectivity is where this workstation truly shines. It’s loaded with ports, including Thunderbolt 4, three additional USB ports, HDMI, VGA, dual Gigabit Ethernet, two serial ports, a microSD slot, ExpressCard 54, and a smart card reader. Wireless options include standard Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, with optional GPS, 4G LTE, and 5G. For storage, it supports multiple removable SSDs, and Durabook offers PCIe expansion and RAID configurations.
Running three displays requires serious power, so the Z14I-DX3 packs a 6,900 mAh main battery, while the extra screens get their own separate 6,700 mAh battery. There’s also an optional secondary battery, and it all comes with a 210 W power adapter.
