| Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i laptop features 16 GB of single-channel DDR5 RAM and an affordable price tag. |
If you’ve been holding out for a budget laptop that doesn’t feel like a compromise, Lenovo’s latest deal might be the one to finally pull the trigger. The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i is currently available with a massive $650 discount**, bringing the price down to just **under $650 — and for that money, you’re getting specs that frankly seem too good to be true in today’s inflated component market.
We’re talking about a 15.3-inch 2K touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate, an Intel Core 7 350 processor, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 512GB SSD. That’s a combination that usually commands a much higher premium, making this one of the standout budget deals we’ve seen this year.

Performance That Punches Above Its Weight
Under the hood, the Intel Core 7 350 is part of Intel’s new Wildcat Lake family — a hybrid architecture with two performance cores and four efficiency cores. According to detailed testing over at LaptopsCheck, this chip performs roughly on par with the older Core i7-1355U, which means it’s more than capable for everyday productivity, web browsing, and media consumption.
It even manages to outperform the A18 Pro-powered MacBook Neo (currently around $700 on Amazon) in multi-core scenarios, and it edges out the **AMD Ryzen AI 5 430** by a few percentage points. For a sub-$650 laptop, that’s genuinely impressive.
Graphics are handled by the Intel Graphics 2-core Xe3 iGPU — don’t expect to game at high settings, but it’s perfectly fine for video playback, light photo editing, and basic workloads.

The 15.3-inch panel is where this deal really shines. You’re getting a 1920 x 1200 IPS touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 100% sRGB coverage, and peak brightness around 420 nits. In our hands-on time with similar panels, colors pop nicely, and the high refresh rate makes scrolling and everyday use feel noticeably smoother.
It’s worth noting that Lenovo offers multiple display configurations for this model, so double-check the specs before you buy. The mid-tier 1200p IPS panel is the sweet spot — the base model drops to 60Hz and 60% sRGB, while the OLED upgrade is overkill for this price bracket.
Build, Battery, and Connectivity
The IdeaPad Slim 3i weighs in at just 1.28 kg (2.82 pounds) and measures 18.9mm thick, making it a genuinely portable 15-incher. Battery life is solid too — the 50Wh battery lasted around 8–10 hours of mixed usage in testing, and up to 11.7 hours in Wi-Fi browsing tests.
Port selection is decent for the price:
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
- 1x USB-C with DisplayPort 1.2 and Power Delivery
- HDMI 1.4
- SD card reader
- 3.5mm audio jack
Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. One thing to note: the RAM is limited to single-channel operation via a single SODIMM slot, which can bottleneck heavier multitasking. Storage is expandable via a single M.2 2242 slot, but there’s no room for a full-size SSD.
The Verdict: A Budget Laptop That Gets the Basics Right
At **under $650**, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i is a compelling package. You’re getting a fast CPU, plenty of RAM, a gorgeous 120Hz touchscreen, and all-day battery life — specs that would have cost well over $1,000 just a year or two ago. The trade-offs (single-channel RAM, no keyboard backlight, aging barrel charger) are easy to swallow at this price point.
If you’re a student, a home user, or just someone who needs a reliable daily driver without breaking the bank, this deal is absolutely worth a look.
