| Asus ProArt P16 RTX Spark Laptop Review - The future of multimedia laptops? |
If you’ve been waiting for the next big leap in Windows laptops, the wait is finally over. We got our hands on the new Asus ProArt P16, and it is unlike anything we’ve tested this year.
Why? Because this isn't just another spec bump. This is one of the first laptops on the planet to feature Nvidia’s highly anticipated RTX Spark N1X SoC.
We spent a week with the 128GB RAM model to see if this "future of multimedia laptops" actually lives up to the $6,999 hype. Here is our full breakdown.

Design & Build: Impossibly Thin, Incredibly Solid

When you unbox a 16-inch laptop that claims to have desktop-class performance, you expect a brick. The ProArt P16 is the opposite. At just 13mm thick and weighing 1.79 kg, it is shockingly portable.
We compared it directly to the MacBook Pro 16 and the Surface Book Ultra, and the Asus feels significantly lighter in the hand without sacrificing rigidity. There is zero flex in the chassis, and the hinge feels perfectly tuned.
The keyboard is fantastic—comfortable and quiet—and the massive haptic touchpad is a joy to use. One small note: Asus removed the "DialPad" from previous models, which might disappoint long-time users, but the extra space for the trackpad is a welcome trade-off.
Connectivity is top-tier:
- 3x USB-C (USB4)
- 1x USB-A
- HDMI 2.1
- SD-Express 7.0 Card Reader (perfect for photographers)
- Wi-Fi 7
A quick heads-up on the webcam: It is a 1080p unit. For $7,000, we really expected a 1440p or 5MP sensor, especially since competitors are stepping up their game. It's fine for Zoom, but it’s the weakest link in the hardware chain.

Display: The Best OLED We’ve Ever Seen

Asus didn't just slap a standard OLED on this thing; they used a 4K Tandem OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. This is the same tech you find in the iPad Pro M4, and it is glorious.
- Brightness: We measured over 700 nits in SDR and a blinding 1,644 nits in HDR.
- Colors: 100% DCI-P3 coverage. It is perfect for color grading.
- PWM: We know OLED flicker is a concern for some. Asus has improved the PWM frequency to 960Hz, which is much better for eye comfort than previous generations.
Whether you are editing HDR video or just watching Netflix, the image quality is simply stunning. The only downside is the touchscreen layer, which adds a slight "grain" to bright white backgrounds, though it's unnoticeable from a normal distance.

| Asus ProArt P16 RTX Spark Laptop |
This is the headline. The RTX Spark N1X is a 20-core ARM CPU paired with a 6144-Core Blackwell GPU, all sharing a unified pool of memory. In this case, 128 GB of LPDDR5x RAM.
How does it run?
- CPU: It crushes the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H and the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 (Strix Halo). However, Apple's M5 Pro and Max chips still hold a lead in raw CPU rendering tasks.
- GPU: It performs roughly on par with an RTX 5070 Laptop GPU. The magic here is the Unified Memory. You can allocate up to 64GB of VRAM for the GPU. This means you can run massive AI models locally or handle 8K video timelines that would choke a standard consumer laptop.
- Battery Performance: Unlike most Windows laptops that throttle when unplugged, the ProArt P16 delivers almost the same performance on battery as it does plugged in.
The Catch: ARM on Windows
This is a Windows on ARM device. While most apps run fine, we did encounter some hiccups with specific games (like Battlefield 6 and F1 25) refusing to launch. We highly recommend checking your specific software compatibility before pulling the trigger.
Battery Life & Cooling
The 99.9 Wh battery is huge, but the 4K OLED and the powerful SoC are hungry. In our testing, we got around 5 to 6 hours of mixed use. It won't last you a full transatlantic flight, but for a desktop replacement, it's acceptable.
The cooling system is impressive. Even under full load, the fans are quiet (around 44 dB), and the keyboard never got uncomfortably hot.

The Asus ProArt P16 is a masterpiece of engineering. It packs RTX 5070-level graphics and a massive 128GB of RAM into a chassis thinner than a MacBook Pro.
It isn't cheap. At $6,999, it is a serious investment. But for a content creator who needs to run local AI models, render 8K video, and travel light, there is currently nothing else like it on the market.
Rating: 4.5/5
Pros:
- Stunning, ultra-light chassis
- Incredible 4K Tandem OLED screen
- Blistering performance from the RTX Spark N1X
- Full performance on battery power
