| The new Lenovo V15 laptop will be sold alongside the Intel Wildcat Lake variant. |
Earlier this month, Lenovo’s websites quietly hinted that a new V15 variant was on the way. Now it’s official: the Lenovo V15 G7 Q7X has launched as a Snapdragon C-powered alternative to the Intel Wildcat Lake-based V15 G7 that went on sale in July.
At first glance, the two laptops look nearly identical. The biggest change is under the hood. The Q7X uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon C C11-0100, an entry-level Windows-on-Arm processor aimed at affordable Windows laptops in the $300 range. It features eight Kryo CPU cores rather than the newer Oryon cores found in the more powerful Snapdragon X and Snapdragon X2 chips. It can handle some local AI tasks, but with only a 12 TOPS NPU, it does not qualify as a Copilot+ laptop.
Memory, storage, and specs
The Snapdragon model can be configured with up to 16 GB dual-channel LPDDR5X-6393 RAM and up to 512 GB PCIe 4.0 SSD storage. Entry-level configurations will come with 128 GB UFS 3.1 storage instead. By comparison, the Intel Wildcat Lake version supports up to 32 GB DDR5-5600 RAM, albeit in a single-channel configuration, and starts with 256 GB PCIe 3.0 storage.
If you want to see how Lenovo is configuring the Q7X across different markets, the official Lenovo V15 G7 Q7X PSREF page is the best place to start. That listing also helps show why this model feels like a focused refresh rather than a completely new design.
Battery life and display upgrades
Where the Snapdragon version pulls ahead is battery life and display quality. Lenovo rates the Q7X at up to 23.28 hours in official JEITA-BAT 3.0 tests, compared with 16.91 hours for the Intel version. Some of that advantage comes from a slightly larger 50 Wh battery, versus 47 Wh in the Intel model.
The display also gets an upgrade. The Q7X uses a taller 16:10, 1920 x 1200 IPS panel, with 400 nits brightness instead of 300 nits, plus an optional 120 Hz touchscreen. That makes it a more comfortable choice for everyday work, browsing, and media playback.
Design and ports
The chassis is still plastic, and the port selection remains familiar: two full-function USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, a headphone jack, and HDMI. One notable change is that Lenovo has swapped the Intel version’s Gigabit Ethernet port for a microSD card reader. Both models include a 720p webcam with a privacy shutter and a non-backlit keyboard with a number pad.
Pricing and availability
Lenovo has not yet announced pricing for the V15 G7 Q7X, but it could cost less than the Wildcat Lake version, which starts at over $1,000 in countries such as Germany. Lenovo appears to be planning a broad international release, with configurations already listed for multiple countries across Europe, Asia, and Africa.
For budget laptop shoppers, the Lenovo V15 G7 Q7X is an interesting option. It trades raw CPU power for better battery life, a nicer display, and Windows on Arm efficiency. The catch is the entry-level storage and the fact that it won’t be a Copilot+ PC. If Lenovo gets the price right, though, it could be a solid pick for students, office workers, and anyone who wants a long-lasting everyday Windows laptop.
