| The OmniBook 5 16 continues to feature a built-in number pad. |
HP's latest addition to its OmniBook lineup is making waves on both sides of the Atlantic. The HP OmniBook 5 16 has officially arrived in Europe and North America, and it's packing AMD's newest Ryzen AI 400 series processors under the hood. For those who've been holding out for a capable AI-ready laptop without breaking the bank, this could be exactly what you've been waiting for.
A Tale of Two Markets
While HP has launched the OmniBook 5 16 in both Germany and the United States, the two markets couldn't be more different in terms of configuration options. Stateside shoppers get significantly more flexibility when building their ideal machine, while German buyers are currently limited to just one pre-configured variant.
In Germany, the sole offering comes with an AMD Ryzen AI 7 445 processor paired with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. The 16-inch display features a sharp 1200p OLED panel that should deliver the vibrant colors and deep blacks OLED enthusiasts have come to expect. The official list price sits at €1,299, though HP is currently running a promotion that brings it down to €999—a substantial 23% discount that makes it considerably more attractive.

American Buyers Get More Choices
The US market tells a different story. American customers can choose between the Ryzen AI 7 445 or step up to the more powerful Ryzen AI 9 465 processor. The base configuration starts at $1,299, though interestingly, that entry price only gets you 256GB of storage—half of what German buyers receive at their promotional price.
For those willing to invest in more power, the Ryzen AI 9 465 represents a significant leap forward. This 10-core, 20-thread processor can boost up to 5.0 GHz and comes with 24MB of L3 cache. It also brings the AMD Radeon 880M graphics, which should handle light gaming and creative workloads with relative ease.
German customers interested in the current promotion can view the HP OmniBook 5 offer on HP's German store.
Performance That Turns Heads
The performance gap between processor options is worth noting. In our benchmark testing, the Ryzen AI 9 465 demonstrates a substantial 31% CPU performance advantage over the Ryzen AI 7 445. The GPU gap is even more pronounced, thanks to the Radeon 880M's additional compute units. For users who regularly tackle demanding workloads or enjoy gaming during downtime, the upgrade could be well worth the investment.
For context, those benchmarks also reveal that the Ryzen AI 7 445 surpasses the Arrow Lake model we reviewed in late 2025. If you're curious about that comparison, the Arrow Lake laptop is currently available on Amazon for around $848.
Shared Features Across the Board
Regardless of which configuration you choose, several premium features remain consistent. Both processor options can be paired with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of PCIe Gen4 NVMe storage. Connectivity is handled by Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, ensuring your wireless experience is future-proofed. HP also includes a 68Wh battery across all configurations, which should deliver solid all-day endurance.
The 16-inch OLED display comes with a 1200p resolution, 300 nits of brightness, and 100% DCI-P3 color coverage. If you prefer a touchscreen, HP offers that as a $70 upgrade, though it maintains the same 60Hz refresh rate and brightness levels.
The Bottom Line
HP's expansion of the OmniBook 5 16 with AMD Ryzen AI 400 processors gives consumers more options in the growing AI PC market. While German buyers face more limited choices, the current promotional pricing makes their sole configuration genuinely compelling. American customers enjoy greater flexibility but should factor in the storage difference when comparing prices.
