HP has officially pulled the wraps off its latest OmniBook 5 laptop, confirming it will run on Intel’s new Wildcat Lake processors. However, in an interesting twist, we’ve spotted that the tech giant has also quietly started selling a new variant of the OmniBook 5 16 that packs Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon X2 architecture.
A Quick Recap: The Evolution of the OmniBook 5
To jog your memory, HP first introduced the OmniBook 5 with Snapdragon X1 chips back at Computex 2025 in May. At launch, we saw 14-inch and 16-inch models (currently available on Amazon) offering a choice between the Snapdragon X (X1-26-100) and the Snapdragon X Plus (X1P-42-100).
Fast forward to today, and HP has quietly updated the lineup with the OmniBook 5 16, which now boasts the upgraded Snapdragon X2 Plus (X2P-64-100).

Performance and Battery Life: The Real Story
If you’re wondering whether the jump to the X2 series is worth it, our benchmarks say yes. The Snapdragon X2 Plus delivers a massive 40% performance boost over the original Snapdragon X and is roughly 28% faster than the X1P-42-100.
Even better? It manages to maintain the impressive power efficiency of the previous generation. Thanks to this efficiency, HP claims the new 16-inch model can last up to 34 hours of continuous 1080p video playback at 200 nits. That’s a massive win for remote workers and students, especially considering the laptop packs a relatively standard 59 Wh battery.
